The aim here is to learn to use the various controls on an HGV and thus achieve thea technical competence to control the vehicle's movements in a circulation area.Each of the lessons is composed of several exercises of increasing difficulty relating to a certain number of objectives. At the end of the lesson, the main objectives are tested.

This new approach uses the standardised Goals for Drivers Education (GDE) matrix. The following table explains the use of the simulator in the context of this approach. To succeed in the exercises, it is essential to listen carefully and wait for instructions from the simulator before acting. The first chapter of this stage is dedicated to how to use the simulator. It enables the student to familiarise himself with the menus, the toolbox and the icons.
